What it is

Caprawise keeps a goat herd's records on your phone: milk, kidding, health and pedigrees. Log the whole milking line on one screen, morning and evening, and see days in milk and totals per lactation for every doe.

When a doe is treated, Caprawise holds her milk until the withdrawal date and keeps it out of your totals. Record a breeding and it schedules the dates up to kidding, with reminders. It is free, with no goat limit, no account and no subscription.

Why we built it

  • Milk from treated does slipping into the totals. Withdrawal holds come from the label or your vet; milk from a doe on hold is set aside automatically and the hold shows on the Today screen.
  • Herd-size limits and subscriptions. Caprawise has no goat limit and nothing behind a paywall.
  • Double-counted milkings. Re-open a milking to fix a number and it is replaced, never added twice.

Features

Milk log

  • Log the whole milking line on one screen, AM and PM (or once a day)
  • Pounds, kilograms, quarts or litres; switch any time and past entries convert
  • Days in milk, totals per lactation and a 30-day chart for every doe
  • Herd totals: today, the last 7 days and this month
  • Re-open a milking to fix a number: it's replaced, never doubled

Withdrawal holds

  • Log a treatment with the milk and meat withdrawal from the label or your vet
  • "Milk on hold until…" on the doe and on the Today screen
  • Milk from a doe on hold is set aside automatically and kept out of your totals

Kidding

  • Record a breeding (or the first day of pasture exposure) and get the dates: heat check, dry off, pre-kidding vaccination and kidding due (150 days, adjustable)
  • Reminders, including a heads-up three days before kidding to get the pen ready
  • Record kidding in seconds: doelings, bucklings, stillborn, ease; the kids join the herd with their parents and birth date
  • Kidding stats: kids per kidding, settle rate, unassisted kiddings

Health

  • Deworming, vaccines, FAMACHA with advice, temperature, hoof trims, scours and treatments
  • Log for one goat or a whole group

Herd and pedigrees

  • Does, bucks, wethers and kids, with tag, breed (any, including Mixed), colour, registration, pen, photo and notes
  • Three-generation pedigree from your records, plus ancestors from papers for bought-in goats
  • One-page pedigree PDF to share
  • Pairing check: the kids' inbreeding coefficient and the ancestors the buck and doe share
  • Kid weights with a growth chart and daily gain

How it works

Milk can be logged in pounds, kilograms, quarts or litres, and switching units converts past entries. Kidding dates are counted from the breeding or the first day of pasture exposure, with a default gestation of 150 days that you can adjust, plus heat check, dry-off and pre-kidding vaccination dates.

Schedules follow university extension guidance. Withdrawal times always come from the product label or your vet; Caprawise only keeps track of them.

Honest limits

  • Caprawise does not give dosing or treatment advice. Withdrawal times must come from the label or your vet.
  • Schedules are a starting point; your herd and your vet decide.

Questions

What is the best app for goat milk records?

Caprawise is a free Android app for dairy goat keepers: it logs every milking per doe, keeps herd totals, and automatically sets aside milk from does on a withdrawal hold. It has no goat limit and works offline.

How long are goats pregnant?

About 150 days. Caprawise counts kidding due dates from the breeding (or the first day of pasture exposure) using 150 days by default, which you can adjust.

How do I track milk withdrawal after treating a goat?

Log the treatment with the milk and meat withdrawal from the label or your vet. Caprawise shows “Milk on hold until…” on the doe and the Today screen and keeps that milk out of your totals.

Can I record FAMACHA scores?

Yes. Health records include FAMACHA with advice, deworming, vaccines, temperature, hoof trims, scours and treatments, for one goat or a whole group.

Can I print a goat pedigree?

Yes. Caprawise builds a three-generation pedigree from your records and shares it as a one-page PDF, with a pairing check for inbreeding.

Is Caprawise free?

Yes. Caprawise is free and ad-supported, with no account, no subscription and no limit on goats.
