Fair Innings: Baseball Lineup
Fair fielding rotations, batting orders and pitch counts for youth baseball and softball.
What it is
Fair Innings is a lineup app for youth baseball and softball coaches. Mark who showed up, tap once, and it builds a fielding rotation for every inning in which bench time is shared out evenly, nobody sits twice in a row, and every kid gets time in the infield.
It also handles the batting order, pitch counts and rest days, and keeps season playing-time totals, so you can answer “why did my kid sit?” with numbers. It is free, needs no account, and your roster stays on your phone.

Why we built it
- Lineup math in the parking lot. One tap builds a full-game rotation from who is actually there, with late arrivals and early pickups handled.
- Rotations that leave the same kid in right field all game. Fair Innings spreads infield time and varies positions, while respecting the positions each kid can play.
- Pitch-count rules on paper. Count pitches with big +1 and +5 buttons; Fair Innings tracks daily limits and the rest days they require.
- Parents asking about playing time. Season totals show innings in the field, on the bench and in the infield for every player.

How it works
The rotation follows simple, visible rules: everyone sits once before anyone sits twice, nobody sits two innings in a row, and every player gets infield innings. Within those rules it gives each kid varied positions, uses the positions you mark as possible or preferred, and plans around any spot you lock (your pitcher for innings 1 to 3, for example).
Every rule is checked when you swap players by hand, and any rule a lineup breaks is explained in plain words. Pitch limits and rest days come from a Little League-style preset that you can edit to match your league.
Honest limits
- Rules are presets you can change; your league's own rules always win.
- Fair Innings is not affiliated with or endorsed by Little League Baseball, Incorporated.
Questions
What is the best app for fair youth baseball lineups?
Fair Innings builds fair fielding rotations automatically: equal bench time, nobody sitting twice in a row, infield time for every kid, and a rotating batting order. It is free, works offline and needs no account.
How do I make a fair fielding rotation?
Mark who is present and tap “Make a fair lineup”. Fair Innings assigns positions for every inning so that everyone sits once before anyone sits twice and every player gets infield time; lock any spot you want fixed and it plans around it.
Does it work for softball and coach pitch?
Yes. It supports 9 players, 10 with four outfielders, and coach-pitch games with a coach catching.
Can it track pitch counts and rest days?
Yes. Count pitches during the game, and Fair Innings shows who can pitch today, who is resting and until when, using a Little League-style preset of daily limits and rest days that you can edit.
What happens when a kid arrives late or gets hurt?
Mark the late arrival or early pickup, or re-plan mid-game after an injury; the innings already played are kept and the rest of the game is rebuilt fairly.
Can I share the lineup with other coaches?
Yes. Share the lineup card as a PDF with the batting order and every kid's position by inning, ready to print or text.
Is Fair Innings free?
